Graffiti in Valparaiso

More stencil graffiti from around town:

Anyone want to explain this?

DIY revolutionaries:

Here comes...the same old year.

Not sure which genocide this is talking about:

Genocide: Germans massacred the Herero and Nama people in Namibia between 1904 and 1908, but it seems a bit far-fetched that Valpo stencilists would be worrying about that one.....

The Armenian genocide was in 1915, maybe they can't count?

No, I'm guessing it's metaphor, and I'm interested to know about what. So let me know if you find out.

Where was that grafitti, PS?

The Armenian genocide was my first thought but the dates don't match up.

All this came from a building on Yungay (about half a block down from Puro Cafe in Plaza Victoria).

I like the one with the baby screaming and making fists.

Strangely, it reminds me of you too...

Hey...that's not fair.

Ok. It is.

La matanza de Santa Maria de Iquique perhaps....That took place in December 1907...

...although, technically, that massacre does not constitute genocide...

Yeah, not really genocide. Not very nice but not genocide...

I'm stumped. Perhaps that was the idea? A trick to make people think and investigate genocide? Am I giving too much credit to the stenciller? It wouldn't be the first time I've been fooled by pesky stencil artists.

The first picture says "Piteate un Rector" . "Piteate" is slang word meaning "to kill someone" . Rector in Chile is the President of a University. So, the phrase roughly says "Kill the President" (not the President of the Republic, of course)
